UPDATE ON THE IDEN OUTAGE
FOLLOW-UP/IDEN Certificate outage on JAVA Applications error – Resolution:
As a follow-up to last week’s update on an outage affecting a number of IDEN handsets, the following resolution has been announced in two (2) options for customers/partners to leverage when addressing this problem. For additional questions or inquiries, customers may call Motorola iDEN Customer Care support is 800-453-0920:
Option 1: Customers who experience the Java Authentication error may take their handsets to a service location. The service locations should use the iDEN J2ME Update Utility to resolve this error. There will be no charge to upgrade the phones.
Option 2: A consumer based utility is targeted to be available on 5/10 from the Motorola iDEN Customer Care Support website http://www.motorola.com/support/applicationerror. Instructions for downloading will be provided on the website. It will require the user to have a tethered cable solution. If the user does not have a cable, they can obtain one by calling Motorola iDEN Customer Care support at 800-453-0920. It will take 24 hours to 3 days for a customer to obtain the cable.

The following article also identifies partners like ZTE, Samsung and Motorola stating that “all is a go” for the network and that products (the first of which would be laptop-based air cards) would start to come on line still this 1st half of the year – http://www.chicagotribune.com/business/chi-thu-wimax-sprint-nextel-may08,0,3186423.story
